Question: I have gone through 3 different WD Blue “3D NAND” SSDs. I have returned the first two because I thought they were defective. When the SSD is plugged in, my computer will not boot. Like it will not even turn on. When I unplug it, the computer turns on fine. If I plug the SSD in while the computer is running, it will shutoff. I do not think this is a PSU issue, as I’m testing with all other drives unplugged. My motherboard is an MSI Z270 Plus (MS-7A59).

Answer:You should never plug/unplug a drive from a running computer unless you have that option enabled in the BIOS AND the drive supports that feature. That could very well be what is frying your drive.
