Question: Just got a WD Black 4tb and they have this fancy look in all the pics on every retailer site. See: https://www.newegg.com/black-wd4005fzbx-4tb/p/234-000G-000W6
Mine definitely just looks like a plain old HDD. Not that it matters what it looks like but I want to be sure I wasn’t sent an old model or something from Amazon. If I did get the most current model this is pretty misleading advertising on WD’s part.
Is there a way to see manufacture batch date from the Sku# or something?
Answer:This is your drive from the official site
https://shop.westerndigital.com/products/internal-drives/wd-black-desktop-sata-hdd#WD4005FZBX
Look at the model number on the HDD sticker and make sure it is WD4005FZBX
Maybe this is a new look that was released later . if the drive is WD4005FZBX , then it is the same and it is just a new look . dont bother much.
You can email WD support and ask about it as well.
