Fujitsu MBA3300RC 5 Star Reviews

  • I bought 2 and put them in a Raid 0 configuration on a Marvel SAS embedded contoller on a Asus P6T6 WS Revolution motherboard and I am very pleased so far.
  • high speed and performance. works flawless very noisy over power my 10 fans. but that just means its working.
  • More recently these drives have been going offline thus bringing down my Raid0. When I reboot and go into the controller bios I can re-import drives into the Raid and boot back up. However this issue continues to happen at least once a week.
  • Is actually fairly quiet for a 15K drive, but not as quiet as the Hitachi Desktstar SATA drive. Wish motherboards had on-board SAS. Using with Supermicro server board, two Xeon 3GHx 5450s and 8GB RAM…FB DIMMS are the performance bottleneck, hard disk access is off the charts!
  • Due to speed of these drives they can cause problems with Sata drives 15000-rpm vrs 7200-rpm try to keep Sata drives as far from them as your case will allow.
  • The power and data connector are solid linked together. meaning you can’t connect a standard SATA power cable from your power supply to this drive, nor will the SAS cable from my LSI Megaraid card connect to the drive. Now I’m at a loss. This drive appears to be made for backplane installation and not stand alone PC mounting.
  • We use these drives in our “legacy” servers now but they are tough. The first set came with servers delivered in 2009 and 2010. Of the 8 drives those servers contained three have been replaced. Only 3. This is 2019. They ran 24/7 save a hurricane or two and I would buy the “new” old stock if I needed more of these workhorses. Sorry WD and Seagate, I used you guys for the first two replacements and have had to replace those once since then!
  • Please be noted, that this SAS drive is NOT suitable for Dell PoverVault storage arrays (at least not for MD3000). You should use there special Dell spare part with a Dell frimware.
Just wanted to share info for others not to make same mistake.
