Question: i have built a computer recently and i was upgrading the storage when i ran into an issue. the specs are: Intel i5 3470 CPU, gigabyte ga-z68p-ds3 Motherboard, AMD rtx 570 sapphire 8gb GPU with 1 ddr3 stick of 4gb g.skill sniper and 2 ddr3 2gb sticks of Samsung ram . for my main storage i have a crucial mx500 ssd and i am trying to add a seagate barracuda 1tb hhd. i went into the disk manager and went to format it, there were no problems there, it started to format no problem but then after about 1 or 2 minutes during the process of formatting the hard drive just dissapears and stops formatting, i have tried a couple times with similar results. i have used different sata ports, i have used different sata cables and i have tried both at the same time with the same outcome… what should i do?

Answer:run a disk check on the drive. it can have corrupted or damaged sectors that your OS cannot read from/write to.
